" : Used for making a speech or speaking in an emote to break text.
' : Used in accents and breaks in speech.
(( : Used to represent Out of Character speak, saying things off topic or outside of the Roleplay.
Terms:
IC - In Character
OOC - Out of Character
Etiquette, Combat.
Literacy: We seek literacy in Roleplay, please use full words, I:E "You/Your/You're" instead of "u/ur" etc.
Combat: In combat we do not fight with the roll of die, there is no RNG, it is emote and skill based. If you cannot win a fight, do not enter it.
Player to Player Relations: be respectful of your fellow Roleplayers, if they insult you, follow suit or be the bigger person, you are your character, not children. Remain in character untill a time can be seen that you are no longer Role-playing or politely excuse yourself and leave the Roleplay, following respectful actions IC.
Player Death: Player death is a common thing in FF14, Death in a dungeon or otherwise does not contribute to death IC, though if you are killed during a Roleplay, it must be agreed upon by both parties, Revival is also allowed, IC revival is more than a mechanic as it is in the Game, your character will return after its soul roams the Aetherial Sea, The elements return it, Your character is severly weakened after this and it will have to regain its strength through rest for a time.
Realism: Now, we are all aware this is a Fantasy MMORPG, and there is magic, Dragons, etc. This does not mean we can be unrealistic, no one is invincible, and everyone has their limits. If you work hard mining all day or even for hours, you will be tired, fatigued, sore, and likely worn out. Take things like this into consideration, your character will get hungry, just as you do IRL so it is good to RP out obtaining and eating food, leaving to use the restroom, etc. Its all dependent on when you do it and how. So just remember, be realistic. This take character traits into account as well, a Roegadyn can crush a Lalafel under his/her own weight, this is fact.
Player to Player Emoting and actions: When Roleplaying we have many venues of communication, Via emotes in /em (for custom emotes) or simple emote actions with the / command, I:E /nod , because of this emotes and talk are kept to simple channels, /say when talking to others in public /yell or /shout for calling out loudly from a distance, /tell if you are whispering to another person as to keep it private, and even party chat should you be "up to no good. " - These are all venues of commmunication but all actions must be taken into account, Often times in Roleplay we have newer people or people making mistakes when emoting, creating a "God Emote" or an action that is un-avoidable, such as "George shoves Taylor over the ledge, laughing as she falls" No where in that emote does it state Taylor has a chance to respond or otherwise, its a statement. In roleplay all emotes are attempts, "George shoves Taylor, attemping to force her over the ledge" In response it must be met properly "Taylor catches herself on the railing, turning back to glare at George" This is very important, keep your emotes to attempts so to avoid conflict.
Magic: Magic is part of Eorzea and final fantasy, Aether as we call it. If you're a Dragoon you do not use Magic, you do not use Aether, you use a lance and your abilities, there are limits to what you can and cannot do, always remember it. Don't go around on your warrior fire blasting everything as if you were a Black mage, its an easy way to make a fool of yourself.
Player to Player relations: No one knows everything, People are strangers, if you meet someone new, ask them their name, introduce yourself, Everyone has an identity, its best you learn it to associate with them. Unless you know them already, don't walk up and state their name.
I hope these lessons and tips can help you better and enjoy Roleplay with your fellow Roleplayers, more can be added to this document in the future to further the advancement.
